An empty home in Levittown, Puerto Rico is illuminated by projections of a doubly-exposed 16mm film, layering colonial histories on its walls. This short video is an epilogue to a body of work that the artist produced concerning this house, the Levittown neighborhood, and her grandmother, who lived and died here, and witnessed its transformation from a post-war middle-class dream into a dystopian, sprawling neighborhood and commercial area. After her death, the house was emptied and sold. This video was shot the night before the keys were handed over to the new owner as a way of inhabiting the space one last time, and bidding farewell. 

Sofía Gallisá Muriente (b. 1986, San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a visual artist whose practice claims the freedom of historical agency, proposing mechanisms for remembering and reimagining. Her works employ text, image, sound and archive as medium and subject, exploring their poetics and politics. She is currently part of In Minor Keys, the main exhibition in the 61st International Art Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia, and has exhibited previously in Documenta Fifteen, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, TEOR/éTica, SAVVY Contemporary, MoCA Taipei and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; as well as galleries like Proxyco, El Kilómetro, ifa Galerie, Dazibao and Embajada. Her practice has been supported by fellowships and awards from Cisneros Institute at MoMA, Smithsonian Institute, Puerto Rican Arts Initiative, Trellis Art Fund and the Latinx Art Forum, among others. She lives and works in Puerto Rico.
